Take one

I'm trying to practice some different photo editing techniques. I'm trying to look at art and get inspired of what kind of items I want to show at a coming up art show for a friend of mine from church. Her name is Joy and she is going to Cambodia through YWAM to work with young woman who have been victims of the violent sex trafficking industry. I know the situation is dangerous for many women who are placed into these brothels by their own families. I want to create a piece that will really cause people to feel the emotion that these individuals are going through. I hope that my work will be able to showcase this in a different light so that we can become more aware of these global violtions of human rights, pray for change and trust our Lord that these people are loved by them. Joy is going there to show these women that there is hope. And I hope that my work can just do a little but of something like that. I know I just need to get out there and get shooting and ideas will naturally come to me during those times. I'm excited to get to create some new stuff though for sure. And it's for such a good cause!

"Being in Love" C.S. Lewis

Being in love is a good thing, but it is not the best thing. There are many things below it, but there are also things above it. You cannot make it the basis of a whole life. It is a noble feeling, but it is still a feeling... Knowledge can last, principles can last, habits can last; but feelings come and go... But, of course, ceasing to be "in love" need not mean ceasing to love. Love in this second sense — love as distinct from "being in love" — is not merely a feeling. It is a deep unity, maintained by the will and deliberately strengthened by habit; reinforced by (in Christian marriage) the grace which both partners ask, and receive, from God... "Being in love" first moved them to promise fidelity: this quieter love enables them to keep the promise. It is on this love that the engine of marriage is run: being in love was the explosion that started it.

Never Abandoned

" For the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
has not abandoned Israel and Judah.
He is still their God,
even though their land was filled with sin
against the Holy One of Israel.”

Jeremiah 51:5

Beginning

I love the smell of chemicals in a dark room. I wish I had my own dark room. I have began to embrace technologies advancement and changes in the area of photography. The simplicity digital photography has created has made it accessible for people from all over to capture images. Yet, the old process still has a dear place in my heart and I hope that film will get a second wind of popularity some day.

I have loved photography since I was a small child. I have tried and experimented at learn many things over the years dealing with Black and White in high school and the classes in College. I hope that I can use this blog to get inspired and experiment. As I continue to stretch myself towards learning more photo manipulation, skills, lighting, color and other special effects that can be done with digital photography.

So I am now back to taking pictures of everything once again.
